ELIGIBILITY
The BDS programme comprises of four academic years and one year of internship, leading to the award ofBachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) degree on successful completion.While BDS degree is the basic qualification required to legally register oneself as a dental practitioner, thestudents can also choose to pursue post graduate studies in the dental specialization of one's choice.

UNIVERSITY AFFILIATION
  • The institute is affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Karnataka, Bangalore and is recognized by the Dental Council of India, New Delhi. The course curriculum, teaching methodology, examination and facilities are as per the stipulations of the respective mandatory bodies.
  • As per prevalent statutes, the BDS degree awarded by the RGUHS, Bangalore is recognized all over India, SAARC and the commonwealth countries as also in most of the developed countries of the world.

REGULATIONS FOR BDS COURSE
  • In case of admission on the basis of qualifying examination based on merit, candidate for admission must have passed in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English individually and must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry and Biology in Pre University examinations or 10+2 examinations recognized as equivalent by the Rajiv Gandhi University Health Sciences, Karnataka.
  • In case of admission on the basis of competitive entrance examination, the student must be in the merit list of such examination by securing not less than 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together.
  • For candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes or Other Backward Classes notified by the Government, the marks obtained in Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together in qualifying examination and competitive entrance examination must be 40% instead of 50% as stated above.

AGE REQUIREMENT
  • The candidate shall have completed the age of 17 years at the time of admission or will complete this age on 31st December of the year in which he/she seeks admission.

ADMISSION PROCESS: APPLICATION
  • Applications for admission to the course must be made only in the prescribed form provided by the management/association of professional colleges.
  • Applicants are requested to read the prospectus carefully before filling up the application. Application is a key part of the admission process. Complete and accurate answers to the points are therefore extremely essential. Incomplete or false information will adversely affect the chances of selection.
  • Filled-in-application forms along with all the attachments and enclosures specified therein should reach the following address on or before the last date as notified from time to time.

FOREIGN STUDENTS ADMISSION
In addition to all other eligibility requirements of the university, foreign nationals seeking admission to the institute are required to submit the following:
  • No objection certificate from the Government of India
  • Valid Passport and student visa for the period of stay in the Institution.
NOTE:
  • Candidates seeking admission under NRI category are required to contact the college office for the procedure of admission.
  • The Management reserves the right of admission. Acceptance of application form does not imply admission.
  • Detailed fee structure can be procured from the office of the institute on request. Fees paid upon admission are not refundable in any circumstances
  • All disputes are subject to the jurisdiction of courts at Mangalore.

DOCUMENTS TO BE SUBMITTED AT THE TIME OF ADMISSION
All Original Documents along with 3 sets of attested copies-
  • Marks card/pass certificate of PUC or 10+2 examination.
  • SSLC pass certificate or any other document mentioning the date of birth.
  • Eligibility certificate, in case of Non-Karnataka students and for 10+2 students should be obtained from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health sciences, Bangalore before admission.
  • NRI category candidates are required to produce the attested copy of their passport, their parents passport, and sponsorship letter for obtaining eligibility certificate from the University.
  • Transfer certificate issued by the institution last studied.
  • Migration certificate.
  • Certificate of conduct/character from the Head of the Institution last attended.
  • Adhar card of students.
  • Colour photographs: Passport size - 6 copies; stamp size - 6 copies and in case of NRI candidates, passport size -8 copies and stamp size - 8 copies (in addition to the one affixed on the application form)
  • Medical fitness certificate including blood group certificate
  • Candidates belonging to SC/ST category should produce a caste/income certificate issued by the competent authority.
  • In case of admissions under the Tulu Linguistic minority category, certificate issued by the Tahsildar as proof of mother tongue Tulu.

DURATION OF THE COURSE
  • Four academic years with 240 teaching days in each academic year and One year of compulsory rotatory internship.
